Now in its ninth year, LDIF19 celebrates the theme of Black Dance: A Contemporary Voice. The 10-day festival brings diversity to the forefront in dance by showcasing new work from local emerging talent to internationally-acclaimed companies.

The festival line-up will feature artists from Haiti, Japan, Italy, USA, and Zimbabwe, exploring contemporary dance that has emerged from African and African Caribbean dance aesthetics.

The programme also includes a national conference, films, workshops, site-specific projects and performances.

The bursaries will give students the chance to attend the festival launch on Monday 29 April at Leicester Cathedral and the Black Dance: A Contemporary Voice Conference taking place at Curve Leicester the following day.

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore and develop their knowledge from leading dance practitioners and academics. They will also learn and apply the processes behind creating choreography that voices the narratives of black dancers and choreographers in modern life.

To apply, please complete this application form and email to info@serendipity-uk.com by Friday 12 April at 5pm.
