DMU Chancellor's Concert ticket ballot

The annual DMU Chancellor's concert returns this year and thanks to our ongoing partnership with the Philharmonia Orchestra we have tickets to give away to staff and students.

De-Montfort-Hall560x372

This year’s concert, conducted by Principal Guest Conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali, features award-winning soprano Sophie Bevan performing Strauss’s Four Last Songs.

The programme also includes Strauss’ grand ‘Der Rosenkavalier Suite’ and epic tone poem ‘An Alpine Symphony’.

Inspired by an expedition Strauss took part in aged 15, the 125-player strong ‘An Alpine Symphony’ vividly depicts dawn, rivers and meadows; a hunting party in the distance; the struggles of the climbers and triumph when they reach the summit; a storm as they descend; and the peaceful return of night.

This year’s concert takes place at De Montfort Hall on Wednesday 5 December. Doors will open from 6:30pm with a pre-concert drinks reception in the Garden Suite ready for the concert to begin at 7:30pm.

During the drinks reception guests will be able to collect their complimentary programme for the evening and meet some of the Orchestras musicians.

If you would like to attend, please email music@dmu.ac.uk to register your interest for tickets.
