Why should I volunteer?

dmu-localDe Montfort University is committed to the public good – and that’s one of the reasons students are encouraged to volunteer on more than 100 projects every year.

But the university is also committed to helping enrich students’ experience, give them new skills and help them find work at the end of their course – and volunteering can help do that.

Here’s what some of our students said…

"It was valuable experience and a privilege to give something back to the community. Without this opportunity, I would not have come to the decision about the job I would like to do."

Bhavni Tailor, a paired reading volunteer in schools

"More than me giving something, the children gave me so much more than I could have imagined. Their eagerness to learn was inspiring as it reminded me of how fortunate I am."

Madona George, on volunteering in Thailand

The experience was life-changing as I got to feel and see the real-life living conditions of refugees. We listened to their life stories on how they ended up as a refugees.

Akash Mohanlal, on volunteering in Berlin
