Public engagement

dmu-localDe Montfort University is an instiution committed to the public good - and its public engagement work through DMU Local is an important part of that commitment.

DMU Local organises volunteering for both students and staff, who worked on more than 101 projects contributing 20,465 hours of work predominately in the communities of Leicester.

There is a widening participation programme with the schools of Leicestershire and a series of project in the schools themselves but also with many pupils coming on to the DMU campus for activities.

DMU Local's public engagement work also has an international element with the management of the university's work with the United Nations and as the global hub for Sustainable Development Goal 16 plus the Square Mile India project, which sees the university and student volunteers support a community in the Gujarat.
