#IchoseDMU

There are so many reasons to choose DMU. From our modern campus in Leicester city centre, voted as one of the top 10 cities in the UK in which to live and work, to our Gold award in the Teaching Excellence Framework, which recognises the outstanding teaching and learning on offer.

Visiting us at an Open Day will help you picture yourself here as a student and give you a real feel of DMU. Like you, we’re adjusting to the latest situation, but we hope to see you on Saturday 19 September or Saturday 17 October when we hope our Open Days will be back on campus – keep an eye out here for more information. You will never be short of support and you can also talk directly to current students through Unibuddy or join one of our many livestreams.

We’re living in an extraordinary year that has affected all our lives and plans. If you’re planning to start or continue your higher education journey in 2020, we want you to know - DMU is here for you every step of the way. Your DMU Future is our way of connecting safe campus living, quality teaching, one-to-one time with our academics and a great student experience, all within our diverse, inclusive and welcoming DMU community.

We’ll help you gain professional skills through DMU Works, our employability programme, which offers guaranteed work experience opportunities and placements related to your course. Students in the past have worked with companies such as Google, Goldman Sachs and Burberry.

It’s not just these fantastic opportunities that make a degree, but also the people that you meet. By joining our Applying to DMU 2020 Facebook group, you can start getting to know others who are going to university at the same time and hopefully begin making new friends before you even arrive on campus.

At DMU, we encourage and recognise excellent teaching. Our courses embed employability in their curriculum and our research feeds into your education. You’ll be learning from academics with industry experience and researchers who have made a real difference to people’s lives, such as Dr Kandan, who repurposed plastic bottles to make prosthetic limb sockets. His work could save healthcare providers millions of pounds and help tackle plastic pollution at the same time, and is just one example of the life-changing research taking place at DMU.
