Starting a business
When starting a business we realise there are many hurdles to overcome. Here at De Montfort University (DMU) we can help you on your way.
The Innovation Centre is a working space, providing a platform for business start-ups, entrepreneurs, students, graduates and academics, to shape their business and innovative ideas.
As a start-up business, residents can rent a work space at The Innovation Centre and will be provided with a wide range of business expertise, and advice. Business residents will also benefit from direct links with our academics, our student community, long standing industry partnerships, and facilitated business support.
Our unique location on the university campus allows your business to benefit from the experience and knowledge of our academic and research community.
Innovation is vital to us, and we believe that businesses thrive on collaboration, knowledge exchange and the development of new contacts and relationships, by working in an environment that offers excellent networking potential
Feel free to pop in and visit our co-working space, which is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, and provides a platform for individuals looking to develop their business ideas.
Did you know that DMU graduates are helping Leicester match London for new business success, according to top magazine, The Economist? Read about how DMU entrepreneurs are helping make Leicester a “contender to be England’s most business-minded city”.
Anybody can sign up to become an Innovation Centre Member (ICM) and benefit from being part of a professional community.
We hold open access surgeries for our ICMs to attend and receive FREE business support.
We also support DMU students and graduates at The Innovation Centre by providing a space for them to explore business ideas in our professional environment.
If you are a student, graduate or alumni of the university, you can also access start-up business support from our DMU Enterprise Team.
