De Montfort University offers start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises and large international businesses innovative and thought-provoking solutions to the challenges they face. This includes short courses to develop talent, student placements, graduate recruitment, research services and specialist facilities.


Coronavirus (COVID-19) Useful Updates:

We understand that there is a lot going on at the moment in these uncertain times. Therefore we are using this page as an online notice board, to direct you to useful information, and signpost you to knowledge that may help you and your business.

  • The Chancellor has set out a package of temporary, timely and targeted measures to support public services, people and businesses through this period of disruption caused by COVID-19. This includes a package of measures to support businesses including:
    • a Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme
    • deferring VAT and Income Tax payments
    • a Statutory Sick Pay relief package for small and medium sized businesses (SMEs)
    • a 12-month business rates holiday for all retail, hospitality, leisure and nursery businesses in England
    • small business grant funding of £10,000 for all business in receipt of small business rate relief or rural rate relief
    • grant funding of £25,000 for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses with property with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000
    • the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (as mentioned above) offering loans of up to £5 million for SMEs through the British Business Bank
    • a new lending facility from the Bank of England to help support liquidity among larger firms, helping them bridge coronavirus disruption to their cash flows through loans
    • the HMRC Time To Pay Scheme

  • Businesses will be given an additional three months to file accounts with Companies House to help companies avoid penalties as they deal with the impact of COVID-19. See more here

  • The Chancellor has unveiled support for the self-employed. Read more here
  • As of 3 April 2020, UK registered businesses can apply for a share of up to £20 million to respond to new and urgent needs in UK and global communities during and following the Covid-19 pandemic. The competition closes on Friday 17 April 2020 12.00pm. Find out more here
