What is a De Montfort University Network?
De Montfort University (DMU) Networks form a key aspect of our Global Alumni Community and are tailored for those with a shared professional interest working within a specific industry. They are a means to engage with fellow DMU alumni, students, staff, and other industry professionals to enhance the student experience, ensure continued professional development, promote professional networking opportunities, and advance the university’s strategic objectives.
What are the benefits of joining a network?
There are numerous benefits of joining a DMU Network including:
- Opportunity to promote your company to over 18,000 international alumni.
- Opportunity to access over 4,000 graduates on an annual basis.
- Access to De Montfort University’s world-leading research initiatives/reports.
- Invitations to attend or sponsor regular professional conferences, workshops and networking events.
- Access to DMU ‘Global Alumni Community’ initiatives such as Alumni Club meetings.
How do they work?
Our networks are formed of a number of industry professionals who are connected primarily by LinkedIn. Each network encourages members to share their own industry-specific news, developments and events in our specific LinkedIn groups. We also encourage individual connections between members and the continued expansion of these groups.
Alongside LinkedIn, all Network members will receive a quarterly newsletter. These will promote recent career news from our members, as well as be an opportunity to publicise industry developments & job opportunities. Similarly, members will have the option to request that individual job opportunities/vacancies are sent to Network members.
How often do they meet?
Each Network hosts and supports regular events annually with at least one event in Leicester and another held in a global location.
The Leicester events are often a Professional Networking Conference and/or Workshop focusing on Leadership & Career Development. Alumni lecture opportunities are available, and invitations will be extended to network members, businesses, students, and recent graduates within the industry.
