For over 100 years individual benefactors have played an important role in DMU’s development.
In fact, the Hawthorn Building was built when a sum of £25,000 was raised for the purpose of building "a very handsome school that would be of enormous credit to the town".
Over 100 years later this ethos has not changed. Student support, research, equipment and facilities, all aspects of today's university life, have been enhanced by the support of individuals who care about the life and work of DMU.
DMU is becoming increasingly reliant upon the generosity of our alumni and friends to ensure that we remain a university of quality and distinctiveness. This generous support enables us to undertake life changing research and ensures that as many students as possible have the opportunity to realise their potential here at DMU, regardless of their financial background.
