Festival of Teaching 2020

Our annual celebration of creative teaching at De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) will take place between Monday 23 and Sunday 29 March 2020. As a TEF Gold University, DMU offers outstanding teaching across a wide variety of subjects. The festival brings together the very best of our university's most forward-thinking practitioners of teaching, learning and student support, showcasing their expertise and passion for what they do.

We will be putting on an action-packed series of events across seven days at venues across campus and the city which are free and open to all.

Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Jackie Labbe, said: "We are especially proud that this year marks the 150th anniversary since our institution was founded. The university began life as a simple idea, ‘to afford authoritative instruction in art to the people of Leicester’, and in March 1870, the first classes were held in an old warehouse.

“Fast-forward to today, and we’re proud to say our reputation for excellent research-engaged teaching stems from this long history of improving people’s lives through education.”

What's happening during the festival?

There will be a diverse and exciting range of events led by DMU staff and students from all faculties during the seven-day festival.
