People and Plant - University League
DMU takes part in the annual University League which ranks universities on their environmental performance. The University League is run by the student environmental campaign group People and Planet.
The University League takes a dual approach to environmental management - looking both at commitment to systemic environmental management and at environmental performance. The performance indicators reveal how well an institution is performing on the ground as well as assessing the policy commitments that have been made. The policy criteria demonstrate whether an institution has a systematic means of improving such performance. Each institution is scored and ranked according to degree classifications.
DMU has for the past 10 years have been placed amongst the greenest universities in the country. We have consistently gained the First Class Award in the league and were placed 19th out of 153 higher education institutions in the 2022 the University League rankings. A full breakdown of the scoring for the league and information about previous years performances can be found on the People and Planet website.
