Spring Scholarship for Nursing and Midwifery Students Commencing March 2019 T&C's

  • All Nursing (Adult, Child and Mental Health) and Midwifery applicants are eligible to receive a scholarship of £1000 if they are commencing their degree in March 2019, having achieved the appropriate qualifications and have satisfied all non-academic requirements including Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and occupational health self-declarations.
  • These terms and conditions apply to the scholarship. DMU may withdraw future payments of the scholarship and require repayment of the scholarship by a student if a student fails to comply with these terms and conditions.
  • This scholarship is available for full-time Nursing and Midwifery students starting their studies in March 2019 with De Montfort University (“DMU”).
  • Any applicants who choose DMU as their insurance choice, and then later make DMU their firm choice, will not be eligible.
  • Home/EU fee status applicants only, are eligible
  • The scholarship is valid only for entry into the March 2019 cohort and cannot be deferred.
  • Students in receipt of the scholarship will not be eligible for any other scholarships or awards during their undergraduate studies, with the exception of the Access Scholarship, Employability Fund, The DMU Difference, Global High Flyers, Care Leavers Bursary and the Estranged Student Bursary.
  • The scholarship cannot be transferred to anyone else under any circumstances, including not limited to, any other Nursing cohort at DMU or to a nominated recipient.
  • We reserve the right to cancel any scholarship which has been claimed fraudulently and where it has been claimed fraudulently, students must repay to DMU any scholarship payments that have been received prior to cancellation.
  • Where a student terminates or interrupts their studies, prior to the completion of their first year, both the tuition fees and the scholarship will be pro-rated, based on the student’s last date of attendance.
  • The administration of the scholarship will happen at point of enrolment. Scholarship payments will be split into three equal instalments. Payments will be made in mid-April 2019, mid-July 2019 and early October 2019. Home students will be paid via the Student Loan Company (SLC)/ Student Finance England (SFE).
  • Students must be enrolled on and attending the course when the scholarship payment is made. Any scholarship payment made by DMU/ Student Loans Company (SLC) after a student has interrupted their studies or withdrawn from the university will normally be recovered from the student.
  • Any scholarship payment made by DMU in error OR paid as a result of false information submitted will be recovered from the student.
  • lf a scholarship payment is not received by the student, it is the responsibility of the student to contact the Student Finance and Welfare team at DMU as soon as possible, so that the non-payment can be investigated. Please note: do NOT leave any queries about non-payment until after the end of the academic year as it may take time to investigate and resolve your query.
  • This scholarship will be automatically awarded based on DMU receiving confirmation that a student has achieved the appropriate level of qualifications required and that the non-academic requirements have all been satisfactorily met, which will be part of the admission process; therefore there is no need to apply for the scholarship. Notwithstanding the scholarship being automatically awarded, the scholarship shall at all times be subject to these terms and conditions and as such, may be cancelled, withdrawn or recovered from the students in accordance with these terms and conditions.
