Leicester Centre for Journalism
The Leicester Centre for Journalism at De Montfort University is a vibrant and energetic place to learn about the exciting world of newspapers, magazines, websites and community reporting.
A wide range of courses – some accredited by the NCTJ – are taught by qualified and experienced professionals and provide a rigorous grounding in the skills and knowledge needed to successfully launch students on a path to a journalistic career.
All practical journalism staff are former newspaper and magazine editors and have excellent industry contacts with some of the biggest companies in UK journalism.
There’s a wide range of courses for undergraduates, Investigative Journalism MA for postgraduates and non-students. All the courses cover the traditional core journalistic skills and apply them to the modern multimedia digital world.
The work experience
There are great work experience opportunities – students have recently been to ITN, GMTV and The Times as well as a whole host of regional newspapers and magazines. There are also great opportunities for students to be involved in DMU’s student newspaper, TV and radio through Demon Media.
