Executive, Governance and Legal Services
Executive, Governance and Legal Services (EGLS) is a small, professional service based in the historic Trinity House building. The department is comprised of three interlinking teams:
Executive Services
The Executive Services team works closely together to provide support to key members of the Executive Board, the Interim Vice-Chancellor, and the Chancellor, in carrying out their corporate and public functions. The team also manages the operations of Trinity House as a venue for meetings, exhibitions and activities.
This service is managed by Sally Finlinson, Executive, Governance and Legal Services Operations Manager.
Clerk’s Office
The Clerk’s Office manages the functioning of the Board of Governors and its sub-committees, and is responsible for ensuring that the university complies with standards of best practice in corporate governance. In addition, the Clerk’s Office oversees the production of the university almanac, which provides details of the university’s structure, senior members of staff, and a formal list of committees.
The Clerk to the Board of Governors is Sam Weston.
Legal Services
The Legal Services team deals with a wide-range of legal and commercial matters on behalf of the university. The team works closely with specialists across the institution to advise on legal and commercial matters, assist in the development and implementation of university policies and procedures, and to facilitate the signing of contracts and deeds.
Legal Services is comprised of a small team of qualified solicitors and is led by Anthony Heath, Head of Legal Services.
