Internationalisation Showcase 2011

160 colleagues and international students from across the university attended an Internationalisation Showcase held on Tuesday 6th December from 12-2.00pm.  The event was hosted by Academic Professional Development and DMU Teacher Fellows Julia Pointon and Chris Goldsmith.  It was the first in a series of events this academic year promoting the internationalisation agenda.

There were exhibits from each Faculty demonstrating the teaching and research initiatives being undertaken in The Gambia; Ethiopia; Europe; Iraq; Kazakhstan; Russia; Thailand; China; Malaysia and more….  International students talked about their experiences of studying at DMU, giving attendees an insight into the challenges of learning at undergraduate and postgraduate level in a second language and an unfamiliar HE culture.  Both students and staff were able to learn about how professional services are responding to international student and staff needs by providing the variety of resources.  These included exhibits from the International Office; Library and Learning Services; the Centre for English Language Learning; Student Services; the Chaplaincy; Counselling; People and Organisational Development (POD) (APD; T&D and HR)

Attendees commented on the range and depth of work being undertaken across DMU and the liveliness and friendliness of the event.
