DMU shortlisted for two Heist awards

De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) has been shortlisted for two awards at the 2026 Heist Awards, which recognise excellence and innovation in education marketing.

The nomination in the Innovative Use of Technology category is for DMUniverse – a free-to-play online video game in which players can learn more about university life and everything DMU has to offer, through the self-guided exploration of our campus, faculties, courses and services.

The nomination in the Best Student or Alumni Engagement Initiative category is for the MyDMU app – a personalised web portal and mobile application that gives students up-to-date information and access to key services including maps, timetables, library services and DMU’s virtual learning environment. MyDMU aims to bridge the gap between physical and digital, highlighting events and activities taking place on campus that students can attend and benefit from, developing a greater sense of belonging and community.

Andrew Durnin, Associate Director of Web and Digital Experience at DMU, said: “It's fantastic to see the work of our digital teams recognised nationally. Both projects were designed to improve how both prospective and current students experience and engage with university life, and these nominations reflect the creativity and hard work behind them.”

Organised by education marketing specialists Havas People, the Heist Awards have celebrated innovative campaigns and projects across the higher and further education sectors for more than 30 years.
