A world leader in evaluating higher education performance has rated De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) a 5-star ‘excellent’ institution.
The QS star rating is an internationally-recognised mark of quality in which education experts rate universities across a broad range of criteria.
DMU joins 15 other universities in the UK and just over 100 universities worldwide in being granted the 5-star accolade.
DMU not only got a 5-star ‘excellent’ rating overall but also scored the maximum five stars in key criteria including teaching, employability, internationalisation, academic development and facilities.
QS says a university with the 5-star rating ‘is generally world class in almost all categories. Such institutions enjoy a high reputation internationally, attracting a high number of international students from all over the world.
“These universities have cutting-edge facilities…” and “…a highly qualified faculty offering curriculums that leave students ready for work in many industries”.
Francis Glover, Deputy Director of International at DMU, said: “I am delighted the university has received a 5-star accreditation through the QS Stars audit.
“This is a culmination of a lot of hard work from our academics and professional services staff to ensure the university is achieving great things for our students.
“We join 15 other UK universities and just over 100 hundred universities worldwide in being granted this accolade, which recognises that DMU is performing exceptionally well across a whole host of areas, including facilities, academic development and internationalisation.
“Students choosing a university can be reassured that DMU will offer them a stimulating, challenging and rewarding university experience.”
The 5-star rating for inclusiveness included maximum scores awarded for student diversity and disabled access.
In the facilities category, DMU scored top marks for accommodation, library expenditure – which is more than £250 per student per year - health support and the wide range of De Montfort Student’s Union clubs and societies.
