In addition to graduating with a degree, students studying Marketing, International Marketing and Business, Advertising and Marketing Communications, and Business and Marketing will be able to gain industry-recognised qualifications at an accelerated pace.
As a Graduate Gateway university, DMU has developed strong links with the professional body and teaching content has been developed alongside CIM learning outcomes to ensure that course content is aligned to industry needs.
Rachael Mabe, Senior Lecturer in Marketing and CIM Midlands chair, said: “I am delighted that all of our marketing programmes are now recognised by CIM. They are a really important partner for us, and our students benefit enormously from this professional link and our status as a Graduate Gateway university.
“This also confirms that our degrees are highly relevant and preparing students for their professional career in the marketing sector.”
This latest development will not only be beneficial to future students, but also to current students on all marketing degree programmes who will also qualify for the exemptions.
Maureen Wincott, Learner Partnerships Manager at CIM, said: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with DMU. Students now only need to pass one module to complete the CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing or the CIM Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing, or two modules to complete the CIM Diploma in Professional Digital Marketing. This will help students kickstart their marketing careers and fast-track their development.
“We look forward to continuing to work closely with DMU to help students achieve their professional goals and gain the recognition that is valuable with employers in the marketing and business industries.”

Marketing alumnus Jacob Ryder went on to secure a graduate role with prominent UK brand Global Autocare after graduating in 2019. The CIM course accreditation was one of the key reasons he chose to study marketing at DMU.
He said: "My degree enabled me to develop strong business acumen and practical skills, which are essential for graduates. I have enjoyed the scope for creativity and expression that is embedded within the course, alongside academia and marketing research."
