Career development opportunities
As a new employee, whatever your role, your induction programme will include a local welcome and introduction from members of your own team as well as the opportunity to attend a face-to-face Corporate Induction event in which you will have the chance to meet and post questions to the vice-chancellor.
During your probationary period, we will give you feedback on a regular basis so that you know how you are progressing and to ensure you get the support you need to succeed. As soon as possible, you will take part in the annual Achievement and Development Review (ADR) process appropriate for your role to identify your development needs and objectives beyond the probationary period.
To support this we have a wealth of training courses which ensure that you get the support you need to succeed and develop in your role.
As part of our commitment to development, DMU also provides staff, who do not hold a grade A-C GCSE in Maths, free assistance in studying for this through our dedicated Maths Learning Centre.
Staff undertaking a part time DMU qualification course directly relevant to their role (or for personal development that will enhance their performance at work in some other way) may apply to have the fees paid centrally. Contact HR Training and Development for further information.
All academic staff, and those who support student learning should visit the Academic Professional Development webpage which contains resources and development opportunities relevant to your work. If you are a current employee and would like an appointment with one of the APD team to discuss your needs and how we can best work with you please contact firstname.lastname@example.org|
