Chinese proficiency tests

The De Montfort University Confucius Institute is a registered Test Centre for Chinese Proficiency Tests including HSK, HSKK, YCT and BCT.

The HSK is an internationally recognised examination designed to assess the Chinese language proficiency of non-native speakers. The exams test a variety of language skills including writing, listening and reading.

The HSKK exam focuses on oral capability, the YCT is designed for children and the BCT is aimed at those intending to use Chinese in a business environment.

Step 1: Register here. You can find the available dates during registration.

Step 2: Make an online payment via DMU online store (recommended)

or Pay in the cashier in DMU Gateway House by cash or cheque (payable to “DE MONTFORT UNIVERSITY”) with the budget code 407000.3574 then submit the receipt to DMU Confucius Institute to confirm.

Step 3: Receive the confirmation information by email around 15 days prior to the test date

Step 4: Print the HSK admission ticket from the "personal information centre", or collect the test admission ticket at DMU Confucius Institute

Pre-exam Instructions

1. On the day of the exam please bring your HSK permit and the same ID used during registration. You will also need 2B pencils and an eraser. No dictionaries or written materials will be permitted within the examination room.

2. Please arrive at the exam centre half an hour prior to the start of your exam.

3. Please note that the test paper will be in simplified character format (unless otherwise requested during the application process).
