Personal profile

Dr Mayen Cunden is a Lecturer in Information Systems in the Centre for Computing and Social Responsibility, the only research centre in the UK specialising in Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) in ICT. His research is at the interface of ethics and technology with particular focus on the social implications of IT enabled technologies.

His work combines insights from business and information systems and helps to tackle some of the grand societal challenges of sustainable development. He works on topics such as digital technology innovation, integrating ethics into computing, ethics of future emerging technologies, design thinking, social and sustainability governance and RRI.

Mayen leads the DMU University Alliances program with SAP-UK in its commitment to the UN SDGs.

He has been a visiting researcher at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University where he read Information Management and executed a master’s thesis entitled: “The Dynamic Role of IT and the use of Bargaining Power as Leverage for African Growers to exercise influence in the Dutch Flower Business Network. 

He earned a BSc. degree (Information Systems) and MBL (Masters in Business Leadership) from the Graduate School of Business Leadership, University of South Africa and a PhD degree (Information Systems) from Warwick Business School, University of Warwick.
