Dr Hongmei (Mary) He (FHEA, SIEEE) is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computer Science and Informatics at De Montfort University. Previously, she worked as a lecturer in AI and Cyber Security for Cranfield University. She obtained her PhD in Computer Science and MSc in Multimedia and Internet Computing from Loughborough University, UK in 2006 and 2003, respectively. Dr He had rich postdoctoral research experience for several universities, such as Loughborough University, University of Bristol, Ulster University and University of Kent, where she completed many projects sponsored by EPSRC, MoD, FP7 and Leverhulme Trust. Her expertise in AI, especially in machine learning, has been explored in a wide range of applications, such as Cognitive Robotics, Cognitive Cyber Security, Data/Sensor Fusion, Computational Finance, and Safety & Security of Autonomous Systems, etc.
Dr He has been working in the area of Computer Science and Engineering for more than 30 years and accumulated rich experience in theory and practice in relevant areas. Before coming to the UK, she was a senior embedded system engineer at the Motorola Design House, Shenzhen, China. Currently, her research focuses on Trustworthy AI, especially Cybersecurity and Safety of Autonomous Systems. She is a productive researcher and has published many papers in peer-reviewed journals, national/international conferences, and book chapters. Dr He has created solid international collaboration in AI and Robotics. She is a full member in EPSRC peer-review college and was EU H2020 ICT Robotics Programme review panel member in 2016 and 2019. Dr He actively serves for IEEE UK & Ireland RAS Chapter as the chapter secretary, and she is the chair of the task force, " Artificial Intelligence and Edge Computing for Trustworthy Robots and Autonomous Systems", for Adaptive Dynamic Programming and Reinforcement Learning Technical Committee, IEEE Computational Intelligence Society.
