Mark Brett has over 25 years experience of Local Government, as a senior manager and consultant in local and central government. Mark worked for 15 years as a volunteer in the Metropolitan Police Service and as an Emergency Planning Officer.
Formerly the CIO London Connects. As a Programme Director within the London Resilience Team, he designed and implemented a Pan-London Emergency Management Extranet and Brokerage Centre, prior to 7/7.
Mark is the Programme Director of Socitm Futures and is a member of the Local CIO Council. Mark is the Technical Architect, within the Public Services Network Cyber Defence Team.
Mark is Programme Director for the National Local Authority WARP (Warning, Advice and Reporting Point), a CPNI supported programme, and is one of the Local Government representatives on the Cabinet Office CTO Council and its IA Domain.
Mark is a Chartered Fellow of the BCS and is Co-Chair of the National Information Assurance Forum. Mark is a CESG CLAS Consultant and was the National IA Advisor to the Local Government Association, having authored the Local Government Data Handling Guidelines.
Mark is providing executive support to a number of Local Authorities, in England & wales, to improve their Information Governance, through the introduction of the SIRO process. Mark provides leadership and strategic support to effectively understand information risk management to embed it into the organisations culture. Mark is SIA Licenced.
Mark holds a Master’s Research degree in Strategic Management from London Metropolitan University and has recently began reading for a PhD in Information Governance at De Montfort University.
