Personal profile

Khaled Laib received the "dipl Ingénieur" in Automatic Control from Ecole Nationale Polytechnique, Algeria, in 2011, the MSc in Control and Automation Engineering from INSA Lyon, France in 2013 and the PhD in Control and Systems from Ecole Centrale de Lyon, France, in 2017. Before joining De Montfort University, he was a Research Associate with the Control Group of the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge from October 2018 to August 2022. Prior to that, he was a Research Associate with the Department of Automatic Control, Institut National Polytechnique in Grenoble, France from late 2017 to August 2018.

His research interest focuses on developing new tools and techniques for understanding, analysing, and controlling complex systems. A special focus is given to analysing and controlling large-scale networks, interconnected systems, and large-scale systems using tools and techniques such as Lyapunov stability theory, input-output approaches (integral quadratic constraint-based approaches), and convex optimisation subject to linear matrix inequalities.

In addition to the analysis and control of large-scale and interconnected systems, some of his research projects include, e.g., synchronization of Phase Locked Loops (PLLs) networks, power flow analysis in conventional AC grids, cooperative adaptive cruise control of vehicle platoons, stability and control problems of AC and DC microgrids and convergence analysis of optimisation algorithms.
