Personal profile

Samuel joined Leicester Castle Business School as a Reader in Accounting and Finance in September 2018. Prior to joining Leicester Castle Business School, Samuel worked as a Lecturer in Finance at the University of Birmingham Business School. He also held academic positions at the University of Wolverhampton and University of Leicester. Samuel also has extensive experience working in the accountancy profession in both private and public sectors. He has a Ph.D. (University of Leicester) and MSc with Distinction (University of Leicester), Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (University of Birmingham), BA with First Class (Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana), as well as ACCA professional qualification. He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and an affiliate of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Samuel is research active in the areas of corporate finance, accounting quality, banking competition and credit market performance. He has published extensively in internationally recognised journals including Journal of Financial Stability, International Review of Financial Analysis, Business Strategy and the Environment, The Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, Emerging Markets Review, and Corporate Governance: The International Journal of Business in Society, amongst others.

Samuel serves as a guest editor (International Journal of Management Practice) and a reviewer for several internationally recognised journals (e.g., Journal of Banking and Finance, International Review of Financial Analysis, European Journal of Finance, Journal of Business Research, The Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, Emerging Markets Review, Managerial Finance, etc.).
