Personal profile

After spending six years as an officer in the Royal Air Force, Linda qualified as a management accountant with CIMA, gaining the Institute Prize for the highest marks worldwide at strategic level. During her studies, and after qualification, Linda worked in industry, spending 5 years in various roles with Dell Computer Corporation, followed by a role as business controller with global manufacturer, Landis & Gyr.

She became a lecturer in professional accountancy qualifications in 2000 and continued until 2012, since when she has worked as for DMU. She joined DMU as a senior lecturer and has since been promoted to Associate Professor in 2017, and Head of Department in 2019.

During her time at DMU, Linda has been the Bloomberg Champion, encouraging the training of all DMU personnel on this system. Bloomberg recognised her contribution to the use of the system in her teaching by inviting her to speak at its education symposium for 3 years running.

Linda is heavily invested in developing and enhancing accounting education across HE and was appointed secretary to BAFA's Accounting Education Special Interest Group in 2017, and re-elected in 2021.

Linda is keen to ensure that academic success is matched with key employability skills and, alongside her promotion of the Bloomberg system, completed her Investment Management Certificate, and courses with the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments, in order to be able to provide better employability advice to students.

Linda has undertaken roles as link tutor for an overseas partner and continues to study Mandarin to enhance the relationship with that partner and to create an additional communication channel with some of our international students.

Linda is also a keen supporter of the DMU Women’s rugby team, and an ally of DMU's LBGTQ+ community.
