Personal profile

For most of my career I have been involved in leadership and management development; working with managers and leaders to develop their knowledge and understanding and enable them to deliver high performance in their organisation. I have been an internal and external consultant for public, private and third sector organisations helping them to develop their people strategies to improve organisational performance. I have undertaken all elements of the development process from training needs analysis to programme design to assessment and impact evaluation.

In 2009 I came into Higher Education and specialised in work-based learning and working with employed adults who were part-time students.I was involved in a range of accredited and bespoke courses. I also supported both undergraduate and post-graduate students from the Business School to develop their employability skills and prepare for the world of work. I supported academic colleagues to integrate work-related and work-focused activities within their programmes to provide students with opportunities for skills development. Through a Business Mentor scheme and Mock Interviews I supported strong relationships between the business community and students delivering benefits to both.

When degree apprenticeships were introduced it was a natural transition for me to move into the leadership, delivery and support of the Chartered Manager and Senior Leaders apprenticeships. I am delighted to be leading the apprenticeship provision in the Faculty of Business and Law as I am passionate about the positive impact these work based programmes can have on individuals, their organisations and communities.
