• Figuring Light 2: Colour, Shifting Boundaries, Creative Hinckley Gallery, 2011. Funded by the Arts Council England/Lottery fund, DMU research grant and Nottingham Trent University grant.  An Exhibition of contemporary painting and sculpture, curated by John Lancaster and Dr Richard Davey. The exhibition includes an illustrated exhibition catalogue with essay, and a gallery talk with a panel of participating artists and chaired by the Head of Research in the Faculty of Art and Design DMU. Artists: John Lancaster, Ruth Sumner, Oliver Barrett and Barrie Cook.
• John Moores 22 exhibition of contemporary painting, The Walker, Liverpool, 2002. The John Moores competition is a contemporary painting exhibition open to artists based in the UK is part of the Liverpool Biennial.  Judges were artists Fiona Rae, Jenny Saville and Matthew Collings.
• Flesh: Paintings by Ruth Sumner and Fred Crayk, Pilgrim Gallery, Holborn, London, 2003. A show of paintings curated by Greg Williams focussing on how two contemporary painters address the evidence of the human form within the realms of abstraction.

• Trustee of City of Leicester Museums Trust. 

• Manager of The Independent Studios (artist’s studios) Leicester, 1994 – 2006.
• Mentor for Artspace, an organisation of visual artists who live in Loughborough area of Leicestershire. Funded by Arts Council/National Lottery, 2001.

Gallery talk and panel discussion as part of the Figuring Light 2: Colour, Shifting Boundaries exhibition.  The panel consists of the curators, participating artists, writer (Dr R. Davey) and chaired by the Head of Research for the Faculty of Art and Design at DMU, 2011.
