Personal profile

Before joining DMU, I had a career in EFL, mainly in the private sector. This was in the UK, Italy and France, where I lived for about 10 years and worked for seven years at the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Rennes. My teaching role now covers postgraduate and undergraduate courses as well as English language support within the Centre for English Language Learning (CELL). I teach on the MA in English Language Teaching, in sociolinguistics, course and syllabus design, research methods and using new technology in English Language Teaching. Further responsibilities on the MA are dissertation supervision and supervision of teaching practice. I also contribute to the BA English language degree in sociolinguistics. Other areas of teaching include Academic English as well as contributing to short commercial courses or teacher training at DMU and abroad.

My research interests are in the dynamics of the intercultural classroom and I am currently doing a doctorate at the University of Exeter in this area.
