Personal profile

James Meadwell graduated from the University of Central England in 2000 and has forged a career in Design Engineering and Design/Project Management. James worked in industry until moving into academia in 2014, where his commercial experience comes in to play with his work with the Design Unit, a Design research group at DMU whose clients include blue chip companies such as BT plus many SMEs. 

James has worked on products as diverse as award winning healthcare products, heavy machinery for the metals industry for clients such as Samsung and Alcoa, light framed steel buildings for a joint venture between Redrow and Corus, furniture for clients including John Lewis and innovative medical devices.

His current research activity includes research in to design education, specialist research in to safety facemasks for users with facial hair. He is currently project Manager on a major research project with Arthrtis Research UK.

James regularly teaches on the BSc and BA product design courses at DMU.
