Charles Ilako

Executive Chairman, St Helena Financial Services Regulatory Authority and the Anti-Money Laundering Authority

Charles Ilako was appointed an independent governor in May 2019 and sits on the Audit Committee.

Charles has spent 34 years of his career specialising in governance, risk management, regulatory compliance and auditing.

He has held a number of roles in financial services both in the UK and abroad, including 24 years’ service at PricewaterhouseCoopers, 10 years of which as a Partner, based in London and Brussels auditing firms and leading the European Financial Services Regulatory and Compliance Practice. Charles has also been a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales since 1998.

He brings a strong level of experience to the university’s Audit Committee, having led effectiveness reviews of a number of audit committees and reporting in respect of finance, internal audit and risk management.
