About the ICHSC
DMU’s International Centre for Sports History and Culture is the world’s leading centre for academic research into the history of sport.
Established in 1996, the centre’s historians have published numerous critically-acclaimed books and articles, hosted international conferences and given keynote lectures at venues around the world.
In 2012, the centre achieved a first in sports history broadcasting when it teamed up with the BBC to produce a series called Sport and the British. This 30-part series, broadcast on BBC Radio Four in the run-up to the London Olympics, was hailed as a landmark series.
This year, the FIFA Master, which is run at the ICSHC, Switzerland and Italy, was named the best postgraduate sports management course in the world.
The centre’s work is underpinned by its thriving research culture. It offers many opportunities for postgraduate research including an MA in Sport History and Culture and full facilities for PhD students
