Studios

DMU has a number of well-equipped, up-to-date studios | on campus in which students can undertake coursework and projects using industry standard equipment.

Creative Technology Studios |

Consist of integrated facilities for the acquisition, editing and distribution of video, audio and computer-generated materials.

Files can be shared throughout the studios via a fast computer network, enabling a seamless mixed-media workflow.

Digital Studios |

Contain all the industry standard equipment required by students studying photography, graphic design, game art design and digital animation.

Film Studios |

Consisting of multi-camera, blue and green screen studios these facilities, located in the Queens building, enable students on media courses to:

  • Create videos that take advantage of colour keying to merge video with computer graphics, stock video and still images

A multi-camera studio replicates the most common setup for TV studios and enables students to practise techniques covering all areas of studio work including:

  • Presenting
  • Camera work
  • Direction
  • Lighting and sound

The studios also include a full lighting setup and a viewing gallery so that cameras and presenters can receive direction from the students taking the role of producer.

Using live graphic overlays students can successfully replicate:

  • News
  • Shopping channels
  • Chat show environments
 

Fine Art |

Dedicated, well-lit, individual spaces provide Fine Art students | with studio space for:

  • Printmaking workshops
  • Sculpture workshops
  • Photography, video and digital media workshops

Game Development Studios |

Hosting some of the most up-to-date technology for playing and developing games, the Game Development Studios are equipped with:

To also help students evaluate games, to stimulate ideas and identify good practice for their own games development, the studios are equipped with:

Music, Technology and Innovation is superbly resourced, boasting well-equipped recording studios, all of which are available for use by students outside class times via our online booking system.
