Fees and funding 2013
If you’re thinking about coming to De Montfort University (DMU) in 2013, money will be on your mind. The government has significantly cut higher education funding, and because of this, universities have to charge students the full cost of their courses.
There is, however, plenty of funding available to support students with both tuition and living costs. The following pages have everything you need to know about fees and funding here at De Montfort University.

Funding available for undergraduate students in 2013
We are committed to ensuring talented students have the opportunity to study at university and so we have launched a package of more than £20 million of financial support, outreach and retention activities over three years. We have also recently invested over £8 million in a new leisure centre and learning zones.
We will also significantly enhance employability and skills development support for all students at DMU, including an exciting new internship/placement programme to boost job prospects for all students.
Fees information for undergraduate students in 2013
We have set our BA/BSc/LLB tuition fees for 2013/14 at £9,000 in order to maintain and enhance our work transforming the lives of students. This will allow us to continue to invest in the student experience, while representing value for money for all students, regardless of financial circumstances. Our Foundation Degree fees are not yet finalised for 2013 entry, but will be added to our partner colleges pages soon.
Art and Design Foundation course
The Art and Design Foundation course is not a Foundation Degree; the course is classified as further education, and the fees are as follows:
Under 19 on 31/08/13: FREE
19 and over on 31/08/13: £920
Please note that students on the Art and Design Foundation course are not eligible for any of the student funding packages or DMU awards i.e. grants/loans and bursaries/scholarships.
We have set the BA/BSc/LLB tuition fees for 2013/14 at £5,925 / year for a 4 year course and £3,950 for a 3 year course (this equals £988 per 15 credit module).

Students on an Erasmus exchange or placement
If you are on an Erasmus scheme, you will not be charged any fees during your year abroad and will still be eligible for DMU bursaries and scholarships. If you take a sandwich year placement, you will be charged fees of £650 for the year, and will not have access to any DMU scholarships and bursaries unless you are a care leaver or estranged.
