The content and structure of DMU courses are the result of close collaboration with industry, focusing on the practical needs for now and the future of businesses and other organisations. 

Many of our lecturers work with businesses and organisations to support them with research and other new developments. This directly benefits students as lectures are structured in a way that replicates real-life commercial situations.

The links we have developed with all sections of industry, allied with the practical nature of our courses, means that DMU students and graduates are in a great position to take advantage of a number of placement| and graduate career| opportunities with organisations such as the BBC, Nike and Rolls-Royce.

Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP)

Companies often have innovative ideas but sometimes lack the expertise to make them happen. KTP provides the solution by transferring the required knowledge and skills from the university and establishing a new capability in the company.

The knowledge sought is embedded into the company through a project undertaken by a graduate (known as the Associate), recruited to specifically work on that project. KTPs can vary in length from 18 months to three years depending on the needs of the business and the desired outcomes.

To qualify for funding, a KTP project must be of strategic importance to the company and require expertise from the university. Ideally, the project will be innovative, challenging and demonstrate commercial or social impact.
