Careers and employability

From day one, DMU students are developing the skills and attitudes they need to help them get the great jobs they want – and it works. DMU was rated as No.1 for graduate employability and in the top three for teaching excellence among UK universities in a preliminary study of teaching quality by the Times Higher Education magazine.

Some 95 per cent of DMU undergraduates are in full-time employment or further education within six months of completing their course, compared to a national average of 93 per cent, and 97 per cent of DMU postgraduates are in full-time employment or further education within six months of completing their course.

DMU graduates have won Oscars and Emmy awards; include the photographer to A-list stars; and have designed landmark buildings, and shoes for The Duchess of Cambridge and clothes for Lady Gaga, Kate Moss and Beyoncé. Successful DMU graduates have gone on to work at world-leading companies such as Warner Bros, HSBC, Nike, KPMG, BBC, Gucci, Abercrombie & Fitch, BMW, Levi’s, NASA, Disney, IBM and Adidas.

DMU courses are designed to provide the skills and experience employers look for and include placements and projects set by leading companies. Students boost their job prospects, enrich their studies and broaden their horizons by signing up to #DMUglobal, DMU’s flagship international experience programme. Many DMU courses are accredited by professional bodies.

As part of DMU’s continuing support for student employability, the Employability Award will provide £100 to every eligible student to help towards the costs of securing employment. We also have an online careers service, MyGateway.
