Moving away to university can be one of the most exciting and daunting times of life. Often it is when students move away from home for the first time, which is why it is so important that you find the right place to live.
At De Montfort University (DMU) we are committed to providing our students with a high standard of accommodation. We understand how important having a safe and comfortable living environment is to our students university experience. That's why we aim to provide accommodation for all new UK and international undergraduate students who request it.
Halls of residence
Many of you will choose university sourced accommodation. This is a good option for lots of reasons but particularly because you can be sure that it will be of good standard and it is a great way to meet new people. There are almost 2,500 modern rooms in eight halls of residence based on or near campus, all within walking distance of the city centre and local amenities.
Open days| are a great opportunity to visit halls, but if you are unable to attend one, you can see the exterior of the halls by taking a campus tour|. Please note it’s not possible for you to go inside the majority of halls during a campus tour as students will be in residence.
Codes of Standards
Where you live is a big part of being at university and we want to ensure that our students get the best out of their time living in university sourced accommodation, which is why all of the halls of residence that we offer are signed up to national student accommodation codes.
De Montfort University is one of a number of universities and further education colleges that are signed up to the UUK Student Accommodation Code| of practice. This code protects our students rights to safe, good quality accommodation to make sure our students get the best out of their time living in our residences. It outlines everything students can expect from our accommodation as well as their responsibilities as tenants.
We also work in partnership with a number of privately managed student accommodations, these service providers are all signed up to the ANUK National Code.|
