At DMU we offer careers and employment support| to give you the best possible start to your future career; even if you want to start up your own business|.
What employers want
Graduate website prospects.ac.uk reveals that more than a third of students who undertake a placement year go on to secure employment with the company. At DMU we therefore place significant emphasis on developing and maintaining excellent relationships with relevant industry employers, and we work hard to forge links with national and international companies to offer a number of placement opportunities| for our postgraduate students.
Our placements also directly complement academic teaching and research, while many of our courses teach transferable skills that are relevant to many types of career; such as presentation, team work and communication; which means our postgraduates are highly regarded by employers.
A survey by Hobsons also shows that 70 per cent of employers who offer work placements take on at least one student when they graduate. In fact, many employers admit that they use work placements as a way of finding good future staff.
Where are our graduates now?
Our graduates have gone on to work in companies such as the Ministry of Defence, Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKine, the National Health Service, the police and many more.
