Health and wellbeing

At DMU we understand the importance of a healthy mind in a healthy body which is why we have invested heavily in our recreational and leisure facilities and have a full counselling team to provide confidential support if necessary.

A chaplaincy also provides non-denominational religious support and a doctor’s surgery on campus delivers a full NHS service to students and the local community. 

Healthy body

The £8 million Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Leisure Centre provides a range of leisure and recreational facilities and activities including a 25m six-lane swimming pool with poolside sauna, a fitness suite with resistance weights and cardiovascular training machines, eight indoor courts for badminton and squash, netball and 5-a-side football, a comprehensive fitness class programme and a climbing wall.

Annual membership for DMU students is heavily subsidised but you can pay-as-you-go if you prefer.

DMU also has an active Students' Union Sports Section which organises a range of clubs, most of which participate in British Universities Sports Association (BUSA) fixtures.
