The East Midlands offers a choice of teaching hospitals and large district general hospitals (which also host medical students), enabling you to receive an equally high standard of training in an environment which suits you best. Each trust provides a structured training programme with defined learning outcomes for each area of practice. Emphasis is placed on professional and clinical skills and regular patient contact.
By the end of the year we aim for you to be able to cover your own ward with minimal supervision. You will be fully supported in meeting the GPhC requirements including undertaking a Quality Improvement project.
You will attend a programme of clinical seminars taught by experienced pharmacists, either in your trust or one nearby. These provide theoretical knowledge on which to base your clinical work on the wards. The seminars also cover areas specified in the GPhC Registration Assessment Framework or are directly relevant to working in a hospital environment.
We usually recruit around 40 Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacists in a total of eight hospital trusts in the East Midlands. Each hospital can help with accommodation.
Please select the individual hospital pages from the menu on the left, for further information on their workplace training programme and contact details.
