Photography and Video BA (Hons) module details

 

Year one (Level 4)

Constructing the Moving Image
Through a series of practical exercises and creative projects, this module will introduce you to the video production process, from research,storyboarding and organisation, through recording and culminating in editing and post-production.

Photography and Camera Vision
An introduction to an advanced level exploration of the aesthetic and technical aspects of still photography. It covers both analogue and digital techniques through projects, workshops and lectures

Concepts of Digital Media
Offers a practical, technical and theoretical introduction to digital media within the context of lens based practice. Work with Photoshop, make a DSLR movie and create a web site.

Lens-Based Studies
This module places into context contemporary lens-based theory and history providing an introduction to a broad range of themes and ideas within the fields of photography, film and video. You will work on practical projects and short written assignments.

Year two (Level 5)

Still and Moving Image:Research and Practice
Focused on research, development and continual critical reflection to build your creative voice and advance your technical skills. This is achieved through a combination of themed assignment briefs, lectures and advanced skills workshops that extend the achievements of the first year

Professional Studies
Allows you to develop and apply professional skills relevant to industry. Through live assignments for real-world clients, meeting professionals from industry and the development of employability skills you will become well-equipped to develop your career within industry upon graduation.

Lens-Based Choice
Allows you to become more autonomous in your practice by specialising in the area of lens-based production of your choice. This is achieved by researching and developing a negotiated body of work.

Year three (Level 6)

Creative Professional Practice
Prepare for your career track. You will develop a body of creative lens-based work in response to an external brief or stimulus, participate in workshops to enhance your employability and develop your digital media profile to a professional standard.

Experimental and Analytical Production with a Major Project
Produce a major project in your own specialist area of creative image production, supported by specialist staff.  This production and research - centred module will include a lecture series and craft and technical workshops.

Critical Research
Develop your critical and analytical, thinking and writing skills and enrich your practice.  Structured research and reflection will inform your development.
