Nursing with Registration (Learning Disability) BSc (Hons) Modules

First year

  • Professional Responsibility 1 - this module is used as a vehicle to monitor NMC and European Union (EU) requirements, professional practice outcomes and student attendance
  • Skills and Evidence for Professional Practice - this exciting practice-focused module allows you to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to support safe and evidence-based professional practice
  • Foundations of Nursing Practice - introduces you to conceptual matters relating to natural and social sciences and how these underpin nursing practice
  • Promotion of Health and Well-being - this module explores health and illness, and conceptual matters relating to an individual’s health and well-being
  • Holistic Nursing Interventions - you will explore the impact of pathological, physiological and psycho-social changes on life within this module, which introduces situations where nursing intervention is required

Second year

  • Professional Responsibility 2 - this module is used as a vehicle to monitor Nursing and Midwifery (NMC) and European Union (EU) requirements, professional practice outcomes and student attendance
  • Analysing Evidence for Healthcare - provides you with academic skills to access, review and understand evidence and research that underpins healthcare. Skills acquired in this module will be developed in the dissertation module
  • Complex Care Needs - develops your knowledge of the diverse needs of patients, clients and service users in a variety of settings and also explores the role of the nurse within the wider healthcare team
  • Responding to Altered Health Needs - this specialist module develops the knowledge required to nurse individuals with unexpected deterioration or changes to their physical or psychological health
  • Contemporary Issues in Nursing - provides you with the opportunity to enhance your knowledge relating to the impact of global health, ethics, politics, diversity and accountability on health and social care

Third year

  • Professional Responsibility 3 - this module is used as a vehicle to monitor NMC and EU requirements, professional practice outcomes and student attendance
  • Dissertation - complete your 10,000 word dissertation by literature review on a subject relevant to your practice. This includes how to develop practice and implement change
  • Working in Partnership with Service Users and Carers - this module crystallises the importance of service users and carers being central to the provision of high quality and personalised care

Transitions to Professional Practice - this module allows you to develop critical thinking skills and to utilise problem solving strategies to explore current and contemporary healthcare practice in a variety of settings
