International Foundation Programme: Business and Management Foundation

About the course

This full-time, one year foundation course provides an introduction to business and management and gives those without the necessary qualifications the skills required to study an undergraduate business and management course.

The course will introduce and develop a range of business and management, communication and study skills required to prepare for a degree in business and management, enabling you to progress onto more advanced study with increased confidence and develop a sense of responsibility for your learning.

Term 1 - October - December

  • English for Academic Purposes and Study Skills (Art & Design and Humanities)
  • Introduction to Studying Business & Management  in a  UK University (Business and Law)

Entry and exit scores: IELTS 5.0 - 6.0 

Term 2 - January - May

  • English for Business Purposes  (Art & Design and Humanities) 
  • Foundation in Business Studies (Business and Law)
  • Foundation in Marketing (Business and Law)
  • Fundamentals of Accounting (Business and Law)

Entry and exit scores: 6.0 – 6.5

IFP Progression Criteria 2012

For specialist UG programmes students should also achieve at least 50% in the IFP module relevant to the main subject discipline of the degree programme. This means, 50% in the Marketing module if they wish to study a degree in Marketing, or 50% in Accounting module if they wish to pursue a degree in Accounting. 

To progress onto a joint degree students should achieve 50% in both subject areas that are related to the joint programme. 

To progress onto a more generalist degree programme such as Business and Management a minimum of 40% in the overall profile will suffice.
