Ifrah Malik - English graduate
"I was attracted to study English at De Montfort University for the diverse range of texts it offers. It is structured brilliantly, combining classical texts by Chaucer and Shakespeare with contemporary authors and poets, as well as film adaptations and literary theory.
"Staff are dedicated and extremely friendly, and it is great being taught by academics who are leading in their fields. English is an immensely creative subject which is reflected in the assessments at DMU. Alongside the traditional essay, we also have the opportunity to be assessed though screenplays, presentations, reports and more. For this reason, I have particularly enjoyed the Contemporary Poetry module this year, as we were able to create our own poetry anthologies!
"The university is increasingly emphasising employability; therefore there is ample opportunity during the course to realise your full potential as an English student. This course is fantastic. Although I have successfully gained a place on the Secondary PGCE course at the University of Leicester, I know I will miss studying here. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time and know that I have no regrets choosing English at DMU"
