Dale Bucknor - English graduate

‘Choosing to read English at DMU was one of the best decisions I have made. I was attracted to the opportunity to study traditional and contemporary texts from the medieval period to the present.

As you progress through the English course, you are able to specialise in areas of particular interest to you. I have enjoyed a range of modules across my degree, however, the one which stands out is the third year Shakespeare and Marlowe module. I thoroughly enjoyed studying Renaissance play-texts in relation to their cultural, historical and social contexts.

The staff in the English department are incredibly helpful and supportive so don’t hesitate to get in touch with them, whether it be face to face interaction or via email! They are enthusiastic about their areas of expertise and it goes without saying that I have learnt a lot from them during my time at DMU.

I look forward to embarking on my teaching career. I have been offered, and accepted, a place on the PGCE Secondary English course at a leading institution in London.

I have enjoyed my time at DMU and I’m sure you will too!’
