Emilia Robinson - Dance graduate
Emilia graduated from DMU in 2012 with a First Class BA Honours in Dance.
Emilia is now pursuing a career as an Independent Artist and has undertaken a range of freelance roles including maker, collaborator, performer, facilitator and teacher. She graduating she has participated in residencies with artists such as, Jorge Crecis and Rosie Kay as well as taking classes with internationally renowned practitioners such as Laura Aris and Sandy Williams at P.A.R.T.S (founded by Anne Theresa De Keersmaeker) in Brussels.
Emilia is also studying for her MA in Contemporary Performance Practices (2013-14) at Royal Holloway, University of London where she received a fully funded studentship from the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
Emilia has also received a bursary to participate in the professional development programme ‘The Speaking Dancer: Interdisciplinary Performance Training’ (2013-14), directed by Jacky Lansley and has successfully secured a place on the Postgraduate Certificate course with Jasmin Vardimon Company. Emilia is regularly invited back to DMU as a Graduate Ambassador to perform her work and to talk about her experiences as a graduate.
Emilia says “Studying Dance at DMU has allowed me to accumulate unique skills and well-rounded knowledge that has fuelled the launch of my career. My experiences at DMU have shaped the artist that I am now and the artist that I will continue to become.”
