Developing Expertise in Specialist District Nursing Practice

This module is designed to provide the knowledge and tools in which the student can develop, apply and consolidate the required skills, knowledge and attitudes for Community Nursing in the Home/District Nursing Specialist Community Practice. 

A key element within this module will focus on emerging care pathways and themes within the area of District Nursing Practice. The module will prepare the student to expertly manage and coordinate the care of patients within their speciality.

Focus for the module will be within the higher levels of judgment and decision making within the four broad areas of clinical practice, care management, clinical practice development and clinical practice leadership.

Students will be exposed to education that will provide them with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver direct patient care, to advance the practice of District Nursing and influence patient outcomes at both operational and strategic levels.
