Legal History

Module code: LLBP 3042

Module description

Studying legal history allows you to place modern substantive law within a historical context and to understand how law evolves and develops. It also provides you with the opportunity to study more than one area of law. However, you need to bear in mind that we will be working with very different legal materials to those that you have encountered so far in your studies. The good news is that no palaeographical (old handwriting) skills or law French or Latin will be required as, where necessary, the documents will be provided to you in a translated and transcribed format. You will, however, be required to read and to analyse these documents.
