Module description

This module considers the foundations of the European Convention on Human Rights, its constitutions and institutions. It provides an overview of the emergence of international human rights law and the role individual petition and state compliance has played in the enforcement of European Human Rights Law. The module will also introduce the student to general issues concerning key qualified and unqualified rights and the European Court's approach to them. The module will provide students with a firm knowledge of the foundations of European Human Rights Law and an introduction to international human rights law regime.
