Module description 

The objective of this module is to:

  • Introduce students to the study of mainstream economics and its core principles.
  • Facilitate an understanding of the way economists approach and analyse societal problems.

The module consists of two components, Micro and Macro-economics and will be taught through the year, introducing both the theoretical underpinnings and their applications to economic policy.

  • Lectures: 22 hours
  • Tutorials: 10 hours


  • Individual assignment: 20%
  • Phase test: 40%
  • Exam: 40%
